Peer Review Process

The editorial board attempts to ensure promptness, objectivity, and confidentiality throughout the reviewing process. Decisions on manuscripts submitted to the EJA are reached through collaboration between the editorial board and peer reviewers.

Submitted manuscripts are reviewed by one member of the editorial board for appropriateness and scientific merit. A preliminary decision whether to peer review the article or not is made within one week.

A manuscript is typically peer reviewed by at least two expert professors in the pertinent field. The reviewers are requested to send their response within four weeks to the chief editor.

The decision of the peer reviewers is compared to the decision of the editor. A final verdict is reached whether to accept the article without modification, to accept it with minor modification(s), to send it back for resubmission after major modification or to refuse its acceptance.

If minor modification(s) is(are) required, the article is expected to be resent after correction by the authors to the chief editor within a period of two weeks.

If major modifications are required, the article is expected to be resent after correction to the chief editor after at least three months. A maximal limit of one resubmission is allowed.

Duplicate publication

When submitting a manuscript for publication, the author(s) should confirm that the same manuscript has not been published, and is not currently considered for publication, in any other journal (exceptions of this are 1) conference presentations, 2) abstracts less than 400 words with no figures or 3) Master or Doctorate theses.
